Here is a pair of artificial lighter fluid candles. They were made in the mid-50s and were sold under the name of Ever-lite candles Glowing Loveliness. They are marked as Waco and marked Japan. Waco or Wako (in Japan) was a group of companies that made product for exporting around the world. This is one of those items, which have been lost in history. The words glowing, loveliness, Waco, and ever-lite have has a wide range of usage in today’s marketplace in both Japan and the U.S.A. and throughout the year’s have been used in a larger number of way which makes finding information on the candles almost impossible. What I do know is my mother buy the pair in the mid-50s and they were only used on Thanksgiving and Christmas table. They have not been used more than a dozen times if that much before moving north at which time they were packed away and never used again to the best of my memory. The move north was in 1960. One of the problem with the candles is they did not fit the candleholders and keep falling over so my mom put a clay like material on the base to fix the problem which worked. The candleholders in the photo do not go with the candles however, the candleholders are for sale in the sub-category “Glassware” the candles are in excellent condition.
