This is a Royal Heager black pitcher which was made by the Haeger Potteries Co. From 1938 to 1944. The Haeger Potteries Co. make dinnerware but is especially known for their vases, figurines, miniature animals, birds, flowers and lamps along with other unusual but useful accessories of exquisite taste. In 1938 Royal Hickman joined the company as the chief designer from 1938 to 1944 and he soon began producing a line of designs under the name of Royal Haegar which became very popular. In 1944 Royal Hickman left the company. Items produced during Hickman's years are marked "Royal Haeger U.S.A. R-###". The pottery was referred to as Art-ware, Art Deco, stoneware, or earth-ware. This pitcher has one chip at the base of the pitcher and fleabites on the spout. Other than that, it is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, fleabites, nicks, repairs, or stains.
